NRCC FOOD PANTRIES:

Students who need food can grab snacks and microwaveable meals at one of NRCC’s food pantries located in Connection Center #1 (Godbey 70) in Dublin and in the Connection Center on the second floor of the Christiansburg site . These pantries are open to all students who are in need of food; students do not need to fill out any paperwork or even ask a staff person for the food.

Contributions:

The food is collected through an annual food drive sponsored by the Fine Arts Club and Kappa Pi as well as donations from faculty, staff, students and community members. If you would like to make a donation to the food pantries, you can do one of the following:

  1. Donate food or napkins/spoons/forks to Mark Hanks, Student Resources Specialist (Dublin Campus, Godbey Hall, Room 45) or Gwen Houston, Student Resources and Career Services Advisor (Christiansburg site, Room 103). We are looking for any snacks or meals that (1) do not need refrigeration and (2) ideally are already in microwaveable dishes. A few examples of meals that work are here and here. And any snacks (like peanut butter, crackers, microwaveable popcorn, granola bars, or nuts) are great, too.
  2. Donate money through the NRCC Educational Foundation in one of the following ways:
    1. Check - just write “Student Success – Food Pantry” in the subject line.
    2. Online - You can also make a donation online here. Just check “other” and then write “Student Success – Food Pantry” on the “Make a Payment” page.
    3. Cash – Leave money with the NRCC Educational Foundation.

The pantries are managed by NRCC's Student Services staff who are dedicated to helping to connect students to the campus and community resources they need in order to be successful students at NRCC and beyond. If you have any questions about the food pantry or need help accessing other resources, feel free to reach out to the Student Services Office at 540-674-3677 or advising@nr.edu.
