Transfer Success Advisor (Restricted)

Qualifications Required:

Knowledge and support of the community college mission
Demonstrated expertise in providing students with accurate, comprehensive guidance on academic programs, degree requirements, and available support services
Proven ability to design and implement personalized academic plans that align with students' goals, academic progress, and institutional requirements
Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills to actively engage, support, and empower a diverse student population
Track record of delivering outstanding customer service, including proactive communication, timely follow-up, and resolution of student concerns
Strong communication, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation abilities, with the capacity to convey complex information clearly both orally and in writing
Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team environment

Experience supporting and advising students in a postsecondary environment, with a strong understanding of student development, academic policies, and the unique needs of diverse student populations
Knowledge of compliance and regulatory frameworks in higher education, including FERPA, Title IX, ADA, and policies related to student rights
Proficiency in educational and office technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and student information systems (e.g., SIS, CRM tools)
Understanding of the Virginia Community College System transfer processes and pathways, including the use of resources such as Transfer Virginia, the Virginia Education Wizard, and guaranteed admission agreements

Duties:

Advise NRCC students planning to transfer, helping them clarify academic and career goals, build early academic momentum, ensuring guidance supports any potential transfer choice
Coordinate outreach and recruitment for partnership and dual-admissions programs to ensure a strong transfer process that applies uniformly for all possible transfer institutions
Maintain accurate advising records and contribute to regular reports assessing transfer student outcomes and program effectiveness, applying the same standards for all students regardless of their intended transfer destination
Track and monitor student progress to improve transfer student success rates, transfer outcomes, and overall transfer rates and academic outcomes
Manage a caseload of NRCC students planning to transfer to Radford University, offering proactive advisement and guidance throughout their academic journey
Provide academic advising and success coaching to students in the Tartan Transfer dual admissions program, supporting their completion of an associate degree and successful transfer to Radford University
Serve as a liaison between NRCC and RU to ensure alignment of transfer policies, admissions processes, academic advising practices, and program requirements
Support NRCC transfer students who enroll at RU by coordinating and participating in activities that promote academic integration, campus engagement, and overall student success
Collaborate with leadership teams at NRCC and RU to expand and improve transfer student support and increase successful transitions between institutions
Stay informed about academic programs, support services, and institutional policies at both NRCC and RU to provide accurate, up-to-date advising

This is a full-time, temporary position that will end on May 31, 2029

Salary:

$58,000
