Placement in the appropriate ELL class is based on a screening interview and on completion of a CASAS (Comprehensive Student Assessment Systems) or a TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) English assessment. Interested students must see an ELL counselor for screening and test appointments. Student screening, registration and testing will take place in-person. English language classes are designed for individuals whose first language is not English. Learning or improving your English skills can enhance job opportunities, support continued education, help you assist your children with their schoolwork, and prepare you for the U.S. citizenship process.
No, classes are non-credit and part of continuing adult education.
Classes are free. You may be asked to purchase a textbook.
You must provide a current, government-issued identification card and proof of legal status in the U.S. such as a Visa or permanent resident (green) card.
Classes are limited in size and run on an open-enrollment basis.
Classes are offered at the Beginner, Low-Intermediate, High-Intermediate and Advanced levels.
