With consumers tightening their purse strings, a highly skilled staff is a must for today's businesses. To help meet this need, New River Community College is hosting two workshops for area employees entitled "Improve Your Selling Skills" and "Improving Customer Service."
"Improve Your Selling Skills" will take place on Friday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to noon and "Improving Customer Service" will follow on Friday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to noon. Both workshops will be held at NRCC in Dublin.
The selling skills workshop will help participants become more effective sales professionals by learning to make a good first impression, establishing credibility and confidence, and listening to what customers are saying.
Participants in the customer service workshop will learn to how to make a positive impact on customers, develop a problem-solving attitude and cope with difficult customers. Additionally, this hands-on workshop will cover topics such as providing outstanding customer service over the phone and building goodwill through in-person customer service.
The instructor for both workshops will be Laurel Schirr, corporate trainer for NRCC. Schirr has more than ten years experience in sales and marketing and in training sales teams. Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a master's degree in management from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
The fee for each workshop will be $18. However, thanks to special funding obtained by the college for this purpose, fees will be waived for the first 10 businesses to enroll employees (up to four employees per business) in either class.
