NRCC offers free GED preparation classes throughout NRV
Fall classes forming now
Free GED preparation classes are being offered this fall through the New River Community College Office of Transitional Programs that are going on throughout the New River Valley in Montgomery, Floyd, Giles, and Pulaski Counties and the city of Radford.
The classes help adults increase their skills to pass the GED exam and prepare for college or a career. Students will prepare to take the GED/high school equivalency exam, prepare for the Virginia Placement Test and learn employability skills.
Class schedules for the fall 2025 semester include:
Giles County: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Montgomery County (Christiansburg): Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Pulaski County (Dublin): Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Floyd County and Radford City: Online only
Online GED: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon; requires a computer with audio, video, and internet access
Distance education GED classes are also being offered, and these courses provide the flexibility of independent study outside of normal class hours. Students must qualify by being assessed on the GED level.
