New River Community College has been awarded a Workforce Pipeline Funds grant of more than $377,000 to support the expansion of health professions programs on campus, including the launch of a new paramedic training program scheduled to begin in Fall 2025.

NRCC will use these funds to purchase equipment that will be used in the expansion of health professions programs. Project activities will include modernizing an existing classroom to create a fully equipped health professions lab that will accommodate and deliver the paramedic program.  Funds will also be used to market the new program and for curriculum design and development.

Funds were awarded by the Virginia Community College System and were part of a larger grant that also included awards to both Central Virginia Community College and Virginia Western Community College as a three-way partnership.  Those institutions also received funds for projects on their campuses.
