Fall semester enrollment is open for New River Community College’s machine technology program with both day and evening classes offered.
The machine technology program provides individuals with basic machining concepts, blueprint reading and inspection procedures.
Graduates of the program can become CNC operators, inspectors (quality control), machine tool operators, machinists, numerical control machine tool operators, materials inspectors, machine tool set-up operators, mechanical inspectors, industrial machinery mechanics, numerical and process control programmers, and more.
Several courses offer daytime and nighttime options including MAC 106 - Machine Shop Operations, MAC 107 - Technology of Machining, MAC 215 - Machining Techniques, and MAC 217 - Precision Machining Techniques. All four courses are eight credit hours each.
Machine technology is one of NRCC’s many G3-eligible programs. G3 is a tuition assistance program for any Virginia resident who qualifies for in-state tuition and whose family income falls below an identified threshold. For more information about G3 tuition assistance, visit www.nr.edu/g3.
