Daniel Cravey

Hometown: Chester, Va.

High School: Homeschooled

Degrees/Certificates/Diplomas earned: associate of applied science in instrumentation and control automation technology

Daniel chose NRCC because of its reputation in the instrumentation community. During his time at NRCC, Daniel served as Vice President of Service for PTK, and he received the 2023 Outstanding Student award for instrumentation and control automation technology. He also received a scholarship from the NRCC Educational Foundation.  After completing an internship at the WestRock paper mill in Hopewell this summer, Daniel plans to return to NRCC to pursue degrees in electrical engineering technology and electronics.

“Montie Fleshman and Dustin Carter [NRCC instructors] were very helpful throughout my time at New River. I found it created a connection, being able to talk about things other than school. They would talk about their previous work experience and explain what they saw within the industry, or even just conversations about what they enjoy doing outside of New River.”

“My favorite part of New River is the community. The professors along with the students are so welcoming and really made me feel I was valued. The professors don’t want you to fail; you can tell they want to watch you strive for excellence and succeed.”
