Duties:

New River Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located on a one-hundred plus acre site at the intersection of U.S. Routes 11 and 100 in Dublin, Virginia with an instructional site in Christiansburg. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties:
The selected candidate will work closely with the NRCC Educational Foundation Office and high school career coaches throughout the application process for the Foundation and ACCE (Access to Community College Education) program. This includes using the Federal Student Aid Partner Portal to verify FAFSA completion, maintaining a spreadsheet of applicants and their missing checklist items, and providing outreach regarding those items.

This position will add all ACCE Scholarships and Foundation Scholarship awards to the system once the recipient list has been provided, with adjustments as required.

The selected candidate will also manage and post private scholarships, keeping a record of amounts awarded, disbursed, and returning any additional funds to the scholarship provider when needed.

Other duties will include assisting students with completing the FAFSA and with questions concerning awards, disbursements, and various other financial aid issues, conducting financial aid workshops for high schools in the service region and coordinating student outreach for various groups of students, and performing additional duties as assigned.

The specialist is required to work occasional evenings and weekend hours.

This position is primarily based on the NRCC campus in Dublin with scheduled weekly shifts at the Christiansburg site.

$34,500
