Registration is open for both day and evening sessions of New River Community College’s pharmacy technician program.

Both sessions begin Tuesday, January 9 in Dublin and meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The daytime session will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for six weeks (#8915). The evening session will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and end on Tuesday, March 20 (#8909).

The course teaches students information, techniques and procedures needed to assist the pharmacist in the delivery of pharmaceutical products and services. The main objective is to provide students with a working knowledge of most aspects of pharmacy in community and institutional practice settings.

Progressive learning takes place as new information and skill sets are studied throughout the course. Upon completion, graduates will be eligible to apply for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in Virginia and be prepared to take the national Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.

Brenton Langston is the instructor for this program. He is licensed by the Virginia Department of Health Professions CPhT (National Licensure) and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

Financial assistance is available. For online registration, visit www.nr.edu/workforce, Classes & Programs, Non-Credit Course Offerings and search with the class ID number.
