New River Community College's one-day computer workshops continue this spring with several sessions in April and May. The workshops will be held at NRCC in Dublin and each session will meet from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
"Advanced Excel" will instruct students in the use of advanced spreadsheet features. These include advanced formulas, lookups and data tables, advanced list management and pivot tables. This workshop will be held on Friday, April 4.
"Beginning Access" is an introduction to the relational database program, Microsoft Access. This workshop will cover three major aspects of Access databases: Tables, Queries and Forms. Students should already be familiar with Windows and other desktop applications such as spreadsheets. This workshop will be held on Friday, April 11.
"Intermediate Access" builds on basic database management skills to help students create relational databases, work with related tables, perform advanced queries and enhance forms by adding graphics and calculations. This workshop will be held on Friday, April 18.
"Advanced Access" is designed for students who are familiar with database management. Students will work with advanced forms, macros, SQL statements, Internet integration and security fundamentals. This workshop will be held on Friday, April 25.
"PowerPoint" will help students discover ways to create interesting slide presentations and handouts using Microsoft PowerPoint. Students will design a presentation using wizards, create and modify text and graphics, and learn to use animations. This workshop will be held on Friday, May 2.
Tuition is $109 per session and a textbook is included. A certificate and a .55 Continuing Education Unit will be awarded upon completion. More information may be obtained by calling the NRCC Office of Workforce Development at 540-674-3613.
