An innovative program signed into law in 2016 as the “New Economy Workforce Credential Grant Program” (WCG) by the General Assembly of Virginia. WCG was established for the purpose of:
The purpose of the grant is to offset the cost of non-credit training and certification. Students enrolling in one of the workforce credential training programs covered by the new grant will pay only one-third of the normal cost of training and credential. Students can use FANTIC funds (see below) to help cover the first one-third if necessary.
Financial Aid for Non-credit Training leading to Industry Credentials (FANTIC) provides funding for students demonstrating financial need who desire to enroll in an approved WCG training program leading to the attainment of an industry-recognized credential or licensure and are not eligible for other funding grants or financial assistance.
