The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) is a requirement of the competitive admission process. Remember, this test is not designed to keep you out of school. It is a diagnostic tool used to evaluate which academic skills, if any, must be sharpened before advancing your education in the nursing program.
TEAS evaluates your knowledge and aptitude in three areas: English language, reading, and science. Your national percentile score is used for admission purposes. Generally a minimum score of 45th percentile is the lower limit for admission to the associate degree nursing program. First preference for admission is given to students with complete application folders who have successfully taken non-nursing courses in the curriculum, earned higher GPAs, and achieved higher TEAS scores.
The TEAS is an online assessment which must be completed in a proctored setting in Dublin at the college’s Distance Education Testing Center located in the library. The test is available beginning January 5, 2010, and the initial testing period will extend through January 29, 2010. Please call the Testing Center staff at extension 4439 or extension 4376 to schedule an appointment to take the test. The time limit for TEAS is 2 ½ hours. During this period, the Testing Center has appointments available Monday through Friday at either 9:00am or 1:00pm. At the time of testing you will pay the $25 test fee with an online credit card transaction.
