The GED®,  Improving Lives

The GED (General Educational Development) credential is highly regarded by colleges and employers. People who obtain their GED credential demonstrate abilities normally associated with completion of a high school program of study. The GED test is referred to as a "high school equivalency" test.

Registering for the GED® Test

Registration is required at least two weeks before the first test date. It is very important that you call 540-674-3652 or email Sharon Harvey at sharvey@nr.edu or complete and mail the GED Testing Application to reserve your test seat. A confirmation reply will be sent via email within 24 hours after receiving your email request.
If you have a personal email address and are taking the GED test for the first time you may go to ged123.org to complete your "GED first-time test takers registration information." Individuals without an e-mail address will complete the paper version of the forms on the first day of taking the GED test.
