ITD Information Technology Design & Database

ITD 110 Web Page Design I
(3 credits)

(Offered Fall, Spring, Summer
at Dublin campus, NRV Mall site and DE)

Stresses a working knowledge of web site designs, construction, and management using HTML or XHTML. Course content includes headings, lists, links, images, image maps, tables, forms, and frames. Prerequisite BUS 226, CSC 110 or ITE 115 or Microsoft Office experience. Lecture 3 hours per week. Students will not receive credit for this class if they have previously taken IST 129.

This course utilizes Dreamweaver and Fireworks and students have the opportunity to earn the CIW Site Development Foundations associate certification.

ITD 112 Designing Web Page Graphics
(3 credits)

(Offered Fall only at Mall site)

Explores the creation of digital graphics for web design. Basic design elements such as color and layout will be explored utilizing a computer graphics program(s). Prerequisites (BUS 226, CSC 110 or ITE 115) and ITD 110. Lecture 3 hours per week. Students will not receive credit for this class if they have previously taken IST 137 or IST 225.

This course utilizes Photoshop and students have the opportunity to earn the Adobe Photoshop CS5 associate certification in Visual Communication using Photoshop.

ITD 120 Design Concepts for Mobile Applications
(3 credits)

(Offered Spring only at Mall site)

Provides skills for designing both Web-based and stand-alone applications for wireless devices. Details discussions of the needs for applications including mobile phones and a range of rich hand-held devices such as PDA's. Emphasizes the importance of usability, accessibility, optimization and performance to create fast-loading business enterprise applications and games. Prerequisites: ITP 160, ITD 110, ITD 112, and a programming language such as Python, Java, Visual Basic, C++, or Flash ActionScript. Lecture 3 hours per week.

This course utilizes the Mac Operating System and targets iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad mobile devices.

ITD 130 Database Fundamentals
(4 credits)

(Offered Fall only at Mall site)


Note: Replaces ITE 150 Desktop Database Software class. Introduces the student to relational database and relational database theory. Includes planning, defining and using a database; table design, linking, and normalization; types of databases, database description and definition. Prerequisites: BUS 226, CSC 110 or ITE 115 and CSC 200. Lecture 4 hours per week. Note: Students will note receive credit if they have previously taken IST 133/134 or ITE 150.

This course utilizes Access and MySQL databases.

ITD 210 Web Page Design II
(3 credits)

(Offered Spring only at Mall site)

Incorporates advanced techniques in web site planning, design, usability, accessibility, advanced site management, and maintenance utilizing web editor software(s). Prerequisites (BUS 226, CSC 110 or ITE 115) and ITD 110. Lecture 3 hours per week. Students will not receive credit for this class if they have previously taken IST 226.

This course utilizes Dreamweaver, Photoshop and Flash, and students have the opportunity to earn the Adobe Dreamweaver CS5 associate certification.

ITD 212 Interactive Web Page Design
(3 credits)

(Offered Spring only at Mall site)

Provides techniques in interactive design concepts to create cross-platform, low-bandwidth animations utilizing a vector based application. Emphasizes the importance of usability, accessibility, optimization and performance. Prerequisites: BUS 226, CSC 110 or ITE 115 and ITD 110. ITD 112 is also recommended as a prerequisite for this course. Lecture 3 hours per week.

This course utilizes primarily Flash, and uses Dreamweaver and Photoshop, and students have the opportunity to earn the Adobe Certified Associate certification in Rich Media Communication using Flash.
