Honors Students

New River Community College faculty and staff embrace NRCC's tradition of excellence and are especially proud of the successful students who become leaders on campus and in their communities.

This page is dedicated to NRCC's honor students. The students are highlighted by posting the Dean's and President's Lists each term; listing names of Phi Theta Kappa honor society members; listing students who are named Outstanding Students in a Curriculum during the annual President's Awards Ceremony each spring; and announcing the names of students who are nominated for the national publication Who's Who Among Students in America's Junior Colleges .

The lists are provided in pdf format and can be opened with Adobe Acrobat Reader. A link is provided to download this free software if it is not currently on your computer.

NRCC student Danny Hazelwood, left, is pictured with Dr. Jack Lewis, NRCC president. Out of the more than 400,000 people Virginia's Community Colleges serve across the commonwealth, only ten were selected for the Valley Proteins Fellows Program. Each student receives $10,000. In addition to covering the student's full tuition and fees, the fellows participate in a unique leadership curriculum – including leadership programs and a community service project – and they receive individualized assistance in obtaining financial aid and transferring to four-year universities
