New River Community College's "Sharper Skills Seminars" for business will continue this spring with four workshops scheduled in March. Topics will include team building, Microsoft Office Specialist certification preparation and using the iPad. Many of the topics will also be of interest to those in non-profit organizations.
NRCC corporate trainer Jeanne Symanoskie will instruct each workshop at the college's New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg.
The "Team Building" seminar will describe the concept of a team and factors for success, discuss the four phases of team development and list possible team building activities for use in business.
Two of the workshops will cover topics related to the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exam. "MOS Certification Prep: Word" will focus on reviewing core concepts related to the MOS Word exam including document properties, paragraph settings, manipulating graphics and mail merge. Similarly, "MOS Certification Prep: Excel" will review core concepts covered on the MOS Excel exam including AutoFill, formatting, page layout, charts and conditional formatting.
In "Going Further with iPad," Symanoskie will take users beyond the basics with their Apple mobile devices. Participants will discover multitasking, push notifications, childproofing, grouping apps and pairing Bluetooth devices.The schedule for upcoming Sharper Skills Seminars is:
