An electrical groundman training program will be offered by New River Community College in Dublin beginning February 3. The training will run Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day through February 27.
A groundman typically works in construction and maintenance of electrical distribution or transmission facilities. Under the supervision of journeyman electricians, they assist with responsibilities on electrical projects.
NRCC's groundman training course, offered with a TCR Management Group partnership, prepares individuals for an entry-level position with an electrical contractor. Participants will also earn industry-recognized certifications such as an OSHA T&D Certification, a Basic Work Zone and Flagging Certification, a Career Readiness Certificate and CPR and First Aid certifications.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the outlook for electrical jobs is positive, expected to increase 12 percent between 2008 and 2018. Since 2010, TCR Management Group has placed approximately 86 percent of its successful participants with its job placement assistance.
