A new travel course in Art of the Italian Renaissance will be offered through New River Community College during the summer 2014 term.
Students will spend May 23 through June 6 traveling throughout Italy. Destinations include Rome, Vatican City, the Bay of Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, Venice and Florence. During their travels, students will participate in museum visits, art and architecture discussions, lectures from guest artists and other cultural experiences. A daily observation log and final project will also be required.
Tammy Parks, NRCC assistant professor of art, will lead the trip. Parks is an experienced world traveler, having been to more than 15 countries, and believes the travel component of the course will make a big difference for students. "There's nothing like being able to actually see, hear and experience the country in person," she says. "My first international trip was to Italy and it was a life-changing experience."
The total cost of the trip (including tuition for the 3-credit course) is $4,632.70. The final deadline to register for the trip is Monday, January 20.More information may be obtained by contacting Parks at 540-674-3600, ext. 4468, or email@example.com
