New non-credit career training options are now available at New River Community College. The new programs are being offered through the college's partnership with the online education company ed2go. More than 100 career training programs are offered in areas including IT and software development, sustainable energy, healthcare and fitness, and media and design.
The length and cost of the programs vary, but all are online and are led by an instructor or mentor. Each program contains multiple, in-depth learning modules and is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to acquire employment in their field of study.
Students can study at their own pace and access the classroom 24 hours a day, seven days a week from anywhere with an Internet connection. The flexible schedule is ideal for those who cannot arrange attending a class at a specific time and place. Students can start these programs at any time and receive a certificate of completion when they finish with a passing score.
Six-week courses in individual subjects are still available through ed2go.
More information about ed2go and other online training options is available from the Office of Workforce Development at www.nr.edu/workforce or 540-674-3613.
