New River Community College has been voted Platinum Best Continuing Education Opportunities by the readers of "Blue Ridge Country" magazine in the 2013 Best of the Mountains poll, which covers the mountain regions of nine southern states.
The poll is conducted every five years and the magazine's Editor-in-Chief Kurt Rheinheimer says that readers voted in record numbers this year. Readers submitted their votes online over a two-month period, designating platinum, gold and silver awards for cities, attractions, people and activities in the Blue Ridge Mountains region.
"We're very pleased that the readership of Blue Ridge Country recognized us in this way," said Dr. Mark Rowh, NRCC's vice president for workforce development and external relations. He noted that the college's Office of Workforce Development offers a great number of classes, programs and seminars that appeal to adults interested in continuing their education, whether for professional advancement or personal enrichment. Online courses, trades license renewals, computer software and customized training for business and industry are among the college's hallmark offerings.
The full listing of award winners may be found in the July/August edition of "Blue Ridge Country."
