To help job seekers put their best foot forward, New River Community College's career advisors are offering free employment workshops in April and May at NRCC in Dublin and the college's New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg.
On Tuesday, April 23, "Cover Letter and Resume Writing for Today's Employers" will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the NRV Mall site and again from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at NRCC in Dublin. Participants in this workshop will learn about resources they can use to create professional employment documents.
"Successful Job Interviewing" will be held on Tuesday, April 30, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the NRV Mall site and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at NRCC in Dublin. This workshop will include information about research techniques, questions that interviewees need to ask employers and how employers judge interviewees.
On Tuesday, May 7, "Using Online Job Search Websites" will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the NRV Mall site and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at NRCC in Dublin. Participants in this hands-on workshop will learn how to use online job search tools to maximize their job-searching abilities. This workshop will also cover the Virginia Community College System's Virginia Wizard career planning/assessment website.
