GED preparation classes are in session in Giles County at the Pearisburg Community Center (Wenonah Avenue, Pearisburg), the Narrows Community Center (Mary Street, Narrows) and the Rich Creek Town Hall (140 North & Spruce Street, Rich Creek). Students may enter the sessions anytime throughout the semester.
The GED prep classes will cover math, social studies, science and language arts (reading and writing) topics necessary to prepare students to take the official GED test.
Class schedules are:
Pearisburg Community Center: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 8 p.m., through May 24.Narrows Community Center: Mondays and Wednesdays, 5:30 to 8 p.m., through May 23 or Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30 to 8 p.m., through May 24.
Rich Creek Town Hall: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30 to 8 p.m., through May 24.
NRCC is also an Official GED Testing Center and has multiple testing dates available in March, April, May and June at the campus in Dublin and the college's site inside the New River Valley Mall in Christiansburg. In 2011, over 200 individuals chose New River Community College's GED testing services on their pathway to earning a GED diploma.
