The Friday Night Dance Band and the Dixie Bluegrass Boys will perform at New River Community College's Fiddle, Banjo and Dance Club Jamboree on Saturday, March 10, at 6:00 p.m. in Edwards Hall, room 117.
The Friday Night Dance Band is an old-time band from Callaway, Va. Over the years, the band has played at many different venues including jam sessions at Cannaday's Store in Boones Mill and the Floyd Country Store in Floyd and regular fundraising shows at the Floyd Fire Department. The band also received a commendation from the Virginia General Assembly for their contributions to the community of Redwood and town of Rocky Mount, where they played for benefit dances. Current band members include Dolly Maxey on guitar and vocals, Stan Rowe on bass and vocals, Ron Padgett on banjo, guitar, keyboard, fiddle and vocals and Steve Carper on fiddle and banjo.
The Dixie Bluegrass Boys band that performs traditional bluegrass music has been in existence for over 30 years. The band members are Mark Hudson, lead and tenor vocals and guitar; Larry Hall, lead and baritone vocals and banjo; Timmie Martin, baritone, bass and lead vocals and fiddle; Dewey Farmer, all vocals and mandolin and Jerry Steinberg, doghouse bass fiddle.

The doors open at 5 p.m. for the show. There is no charge for admission; however, donations will be accepted to help pay travel expenses for the musicians. The jamborees are held the second Saturday of each month through April at NRCC.
