Winter may be rolling in, but it's already time to register for spring semester courses at New River Community College. Registration will begin on Tuesday, November 29 for classes beginning in January. In addition to more than 500 course offerings at the college's campus in Dublin and New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg, over 200 distance education (online) courses will be available this spring. Among the distance education offerings this spring are several world language courses offered through NRCC's new World Languages Institute. These courses are being offered through a special arrangement with Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA). Language offerings include Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Russian.
The new shared arrangement with NOVA has also allowed NRCC to introduce new distance education course offerings in other subject areas including meteorology, astronomy, Virginia history, Russian history and photojournalism.
"This partnership with NOVA has given us the resources to offer a whole new menu of classes," says Linda Claussen, NRCC director of distance education and off-campus services. "It's an incredibly innovative and exciting opportunity."
The full spring semester schedule is available at http://www.nr.edu/schedule . Current students may register for classes online by visiting their student accounts.
