A new alternative energy course is being offered for fall semester at New River Community College in Dublin.
Introduction to Alternative Energy Including Hybrid Systems is a three-credit course offered as part of the Alternative Energy and Renewable Energy career studies certificate programs.
The class will introduce students to alternative energy with an emphasis on solar photovoltaic systems, small wind turbines technology and related technologies, applications and terminology. Keith McAllister, NRCC assistant professor of electrical technology, will instruct the course.
With a solar array, solar tracking array and geothermal equipment present on campus and a wind park under construction, students will also have the opportunity for hands-on training.
