NRCC celebrates 50th annual commencement
New River Community celebrated its 50th annual commencement on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Dr. Pat Huber, NRCC President, conferred approximately 450 degrees, diplomas and certificates during the ceremony held on NRCC’s campus in Dublin.
Steve Harvey, chair of New River Community College Board, welcomed graduates and guests to the event and provided remarks to the class of 2019.
“Your educational journey probably had some challenges, but the rewards of learning are powerful. Education enables you to build your future to become leaders in your communities, in business or in government. Education is freedom,” said Harvey while addressing the graduates. ”It's the freedom to choose, freedom to decide, freedom to advance, freedom to accept other challenges.”
Students who graduated this year completed degrees, certificates and diplomas in 59 different programs. Over the last 50 years, 8,762 students have graduated from NRCC, receiving a total of 11,354 awards (with some graduates receiving multiple credentials).
