New River Community College will offer several one-day workshops on Microsoft Office computer programs in October.
“Access: Intermediate” focuses on normalizing data, managing relationships, referential integrity, working with Lookup fields, join queries, calculated fields and summary values. Participants will also work with PivotTables. This workshop is scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC in Dublin (#5671).
“Excel: Intermediate” will cover managing worksheets and workbooks, advanced formatting, subtotals, range names, tables, sharing, protection and templates. This workshop will be held in Christiansburg on Monday, Oct. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room 143 at the college’s NRV Mall site (#8670). It is also offered in Dublin on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC (#8664).
“Project: Advanced” will teach students features of Project 2016 that include tracking and managing task progress, resources and costs; and sharing information with stakeholders. This workshop is scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room 143 at the college’s NRV Mall site in Christiansburg (#8657).
“PowerPoint: Introduction” will teach students how to quickly and easily customize presentations. The workshop will focus on creating and manipulating presentations, adding transitions, animation and creating a photo album. Students will learn tips and techniques to improve a presentation. This workshop will be held Wednesday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room 143 at the college’s NRV Mall site in Christiansburg (#8673).
“Word: Intermediate” will work with styles, outlines and sections to format reports. Students will learn about templates, building blocks, SmartArt and track changes. This workshop is scheduled in Christiansburg on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room 143 at the college’s NRV Mall site (#8667). It is also offered in Dublin on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC (#8661).
“Excel: Advanced” will use features of Excel to create and enhance PivotTables, use advanced functions, use Goal Seek and analysis tools and create macros. PivotTables are used to analyze and compare large amounts of data. This workshop will be held Monday, Oct. 30, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room 143 at the college’s NRV Mall site in Christiansburg (#8671).
Tuition is $115 per workshop which will prepare individuals for Microsoft Office Specialist certification.
