Gravel Road and the Wolfe Brothers to perform at NRCC in January

News story imageThe music of Gravel Road and the Wolfe Brothers will be featured during New River Community College's Fiddle, Banjo and Dance Club jamboree on Saturday, Jan. 14. The music will begin at 6 p.m. in Edwards Hall, room 117, at NRCC in Dublin.

Gravel Road is a youth bluegrass band hailing from the New River Valley. They formed in 2013 and have developed into a powerful vocal and instrumental group. They play a variety of styles including bluegrass, gospel and traditional string band music. The group placed second at the Galax Fiddlers Convention and has a CD, First Time Around. Band members are Nick Weitzenfeld, guitar and vocals; Lydia Bowman, fiddle and vocals; Addie Levy, mandolin and vocals; and Jared Houseman, bass.

The Wolfe Brothers features three vocalists and the band's repertoire ranges from rarely heard traditional songs and tunes to their own original material. Founding members are Jerry Correll, fiddle; and Dale Morris, banjo and guitar. Other members are Casey Hash, guitar and accordion; and Donna Correll, bass. The Wolfe Brothers have played at many venues including Merlefest, the Carter Fold Festival, Floydfest, the Barter Theater and the Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival. All the members reside in the Grayson County, Virginia, community of Elk Creek.

The doors open at 5 p.m. for the show. There is no charge for admission; however, donations will be accepted to help pay travel expenses for the musicians. The jamborees are held the second Saturday of each month through April at NRCC, a Crooked Road affiliated venue.
