I am working on three years here at NRCC. I graduated last May with a General Studies in Arts and Sciences. I plan to transfer to Radford University next fall in which I will be working on my goal to obtain a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree. I chose NRCC because of the close net of faculty and staff and the caring of their students. This makes my second year in SGA, and the reason I chose to be a part of the SGA again this year is because I want to make a difference in the student life here at NRCC. What I hope to accomplish this year as a leader is to let the student body know what SGA is and that we are here to represent them as it is our duty; this is something I feel has been lost from the previous years of the SGA. A fun fact about myself is I can twerk.

My name is Hermon Hailegiorgis, I am from Ethiopia, a mother of two and a wife. Since the age of eighteen I have worked in several positions like secretary, customer service rep and our national airline attendant. I’m currently back to school to pursue my dreams through education and better my (our) life. I chose NRCC because I found the environment friendly and welcoming. I am a returning member of SGA. I have served two semesters as a Senator before (2012/13) and I’m re-elected as a Treasurer currently. As a representative of the students, I would like the student’s voice to be heard. Therefore, I would be happy to try and accomplish some requests that arose from the students this year. In addition we also have a Wall of Hunger project and hope to be able to give back to the NRV area community through helping food banks.

I’m originally from Hillsville but currently reside in Christiansburg with my little dog, Luna. One of the reasons I decided to pursue a degree at NRCC is because it allows me to continue to support myself by working. I chose this Nursing Program after considering other schools in the state because I believe NRCC will best prepare me to become a Registered Nurse. I want to be a member of SGA so that I can continue to grow as a leader and contribute to the well-being of the school and student body. While serving as a Senator, I hope to create new opportunities for students to get involved in community events. Outside of work and school, I like to have fun by listening to music and attending live concerts especially when it’s my favorite band, The Smashing Pumpkins.

I’m from Portsmouth, VA, currently living in Radford. I came to the area in 2006 when I attended Virginia Tech, and loved the area so much I decided to stay. I chose NRCC because it offers an affordable option that also provides an excellent nursing education. I am a part of SGA because I enjoy giving back to the community, and SGA offers a way to do this along with being a part of programs that help the student body and provide for an enjoyable student experience at the college. I hope to take part in programs that will help those in need in both the college and the community as a part of SGA. In what little spare time I have, I enjoy playing video games.

Hello, my name is Linda and I have been a student for 3 years at NRCC. I will graduate this Spring 2014 with a general studies degree in arts & sciences. I plan to transfer to Jefferson in Roanoke next fall in which I will be working on my Physician’s Assistant degree. I am happy that I can be a part of the SGA and hope to make a difference in the Students experience here at NRCC. I hope to accomplish making it possible for the student body to have a fulfilling and rewarding year at NRCC. Along with helping those in need to stay in school and have the resources they need to grow as a student. Fun Fact about myself: I was given an Army coin in Iraq by President Bush in 2003. Later I tried to give that coin to Mrs. Gram, the donor of the scholarship I received from the NRCC Foundation Scholarship program, in 2012. I only succeeded in making Mrs. Gram cry, but she was quite happy with the attempt.
