New River Community College will offer two real estate courses beginning in January.
Principles of Real Estate will take place on Thursday nights from 6 to 10 p.m. January 23 through May 13 at NRCC in Dublin. This course will prepare students to sit for Real Estate Certification and examines practical applications of real estate principles. It includes a study of titles, estates, land descriptions, contracts, legal instruments and concepts, real estate mathematics, financing, agency, appraisal, fair housing and management of real estate. Tuition for this 4-credit class is $530.20 for in-state students.
Real Estate Appraisal will be held on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. from January 29 through May 7 at NRCC's New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg. This course explores fundamentals of real estate valuation. It will also introduce the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice and the Uniform Residential Appraisal Report formulations, working problems and reviewing actual appraisals. Opportunities available in the appraisal field will also be included. Tuition for this 3-credit class is $397.65 for in-state students.
