New River Community College will host several workshops for local businesses and employees in July at its New River Valley Mall Site in Christiansburg.
"Improve Your Selling Skills" on will take place on Tuesday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to noon, "Time Management" on Wednesday, July 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. and "Improving Customer Service" on Thursday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to noon. The fee for each workshop is $20.
In "Improve Your Selling Skills," participants will learn how to become more effective sales professionals by making a good first impression, establishing credibility and confidence, effectively handling objections and being active listeners.
The "Time Management" workshop will include topics such as how best to assign priorities to daily workplace activities, overcome procrastination, delegate effectively, hold better meetings and work with digital time-saving apps.
Participants in the "Improving Customer Service" workshop will learn the importance of great customer service, how attitude affects customer service, how to effectively identify customer needs and how to deal with difficult customers.
The instructor for these workshops will be Laurel Schirr, a corporate trainer for NRCC. Schirr has more than 10 years experience in sales and marketing and in training sales teams. Her educational background includes a bachelor's degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and a master's degree in management from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.
