New River Community College will offer several one-day workshops on Microsoft Office computer programs in November and December.
"Word: Advanced" will cover performing mail merge, and creating forms, master documents, table of contents, footnotes and indexes. Students will also create macros, customize the ribbon and set Word options. This workshop is scheduled Thursday, Nov. 3, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 143 NRV Mall site, Christiansburg.
"Excel: Introduction" will cover formulas and functions, as well as sorting and filtering information. Participants will use beginning features of Excel to enhance data, such as tables, SmartArt and page formatting. This workshop will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC in Dublin.
"PowerPoint: Advanced" will extend participants' knowledge of PowerPoint to use slide masters, and apply more effects such as transitions and timings. Other concepts include working with images, media files, animation, SmartArt, charts, create action buttons and equations. Participants will also integrate other Office files, and embed and link external resources. This workshop is scheduled Monday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 143 NRV Mall site, Christiansburg.
"Excel: Intermediate" will review charts and formulas, add formulas to use in business and create Sparklines. This workshop will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC in Dublin.
"Access: Intermediate" focuses on normalizing data, managing relationships, referential integrity, working with Lookup fields, join queries, calculated fields and summary values. Participants will also work with PivotTables. This workshop is scheduled Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room 143 NRV Mall site, Christiansburg.
"Excel: Advanced" will use features of Excel to create and enhance PivotTables, use advanced functions, protect data, share workbooks, use Goal Seek and analysis tools and create macros. This workshop will be held Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC in Dublin.
"Access: Advanced" participants will learn features and functions of Access such as querying with SQL, using crosstab, parameter, and action queries, creating and running macros, importing, exporting and linking database objects, optimizing a database, and basic database security. This workshop is scheduled Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in room 143 NRV Mall site, Christiansburg.
Tuition is $95 per course and the workshops will prepare individuals to become Microsoft Office Specialist certified.
