New River Community College will offer several one-day workshops on Microsoft Office computer programs in October.
"Word: Introduction" starts at the beginning with introducing the student to the Word environment and transitions to formatting text, inserting graphics, working with tables and adjusting page layout. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in room 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC in Dublin.
"Excel: Intermediate" will review charts and formulas, add formulas to use in business and create Sparklines. This workshop will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in room 143 NRV Mall site, Christiansburg.
"Word: Intermediate" will work with styles, outlines and sections to make reports a breeze to format. Students will learn about templates, building blocks, SmartArt and track changes. This workshop will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in room 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC in Dublin.
"Access: Introduction" is an introduction to the relational database program, Microsoft Access. Students will learn to work with data in a table, form, query and report. This workshop is scheduled Thursday, Oct. 20, from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. in room 143 NRV Mall site, Christiansburg.
"Word: Advanced" will cover performing mail merge, and creating forms, master documents, table of contents, footnotes and indexes. Students will also create macros, customize the ribbon and set Word options. This workshop is scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in room 238 Edwards Hall at NRCC in Dublin.
"Excel: Advanced" will use features of Excel to create and enhance PivotTables, use advanced functions, protect data, share workbooks, use Goal Seek and analysis tools and create macros. This workshop will be held Monday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in room 143 NRV Mall site, Christiansburg.
Tuition is $95 per course and the workshops will prepare individuals to become Microsoft Office Specialist certified.
