Several two-hour 3D printing workshops have been scheduled by New River Community College to be held in Dublin and Christiansburg in the coming weeks.
Introduction to 3D Printing
Introduction to 3D printing features an overview of 3D printing history and current technology including current uses of 3D printing in education and industry.
Demonstrations on setting up printers will be given as well as a basic introduction to modeling software such as Inventor, Space Claim and Google SketchUp.
Scheduled in June: Tuesday, June 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. at NRCC's New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg.
Scheduled in July: Wednesday, July 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at NRCC in Dublin or Thursday, July 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at NRCC's New River Valley Mall site in Christiansburg.
Scheduled in August: Monday, August 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at NRCC in Dublin.
Hands-on 3D Printing
Participants will learn how to print their own 3D-printed object in this workshop. How to manipulate text, edit an existing file, export the printer file and start a design using Google SketchUp will be covered in this two-hour session. Participants will leave the class with their own customized 3-D printed objects.
Scheduled in June: Wednesday, June 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Dublin; Thursday, June 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Christiansburg; or Monday, June 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Dublin.
Scheduled in July: Tuesday, July 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Christiansburg; Monday, July 18, from 2 to 4 in Dublin; or Thursday, July 28, from 2 to 4 p.m.in Christiansburg.
Scheduled in August: Wednesday, August 3, from 2 to 4 p.m. in Dublin.
