New River Community College will offer a handgun safety class on Tuesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 16. Both class meetings will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in Edwards Hall room 206 at NRCC in Dublin and range time will be offered on the Saturday following the class.
The cost of the course is $60, which includes a textbook, and the course will be instructed by Joey Williams.
The six-hour classroom portion of the course is required. However, range time is optional. The class is intended for individuals who are applying for a handgun permit through the courts and will cover topics such as the nomenclature of revolvers and/or semi-automatic handguns and safety issues related to handgun ownership. Participants will also learn how to care for, maintain and store their handguns.
