NRCC to offer more computer skills ‘boot camp’ workshops
|New River Community College will offer more sessions of its popular “boot camp” series of computer skills workshops beginning August 12. Workshops will include basic computer skills, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Each workshop will be held at NRCC in Dublin.
“Making the Most of Your PC: Introduction” will be offered on Tuesday, August 12, from 9 a.m. to noon. This workshop will help participants become more comfortable with the operating system environment, learn to manage files, navigate the internet and download files and images. Essential computing components, terminology, using the internet, tips and tricks for email and how to save and send files will also be discussed. The cost is $10.
“Microsoft Excel Boot Camp” will be held Wednesday, August 13, from 9 a.m. to noon. Today, spreadsheets are crucial for business and home users to help organize everything from invoices and projects to fantasy football leagues and kids’ schedules. This workshop will discuss key elements including creating, editing and saving worksheets and workbooks, entering labels and values, formatting text and data and using basic Excel functions. The cost for this workshop is $29.95.
“Microsoft Word Boot Camp” will be held on Thursday, August 14, from 9 a.m. to noon. This workshop will guide participants through opening, editing and saving documents and templates, performing editing tasks such as copy and paste, and performing basic formatting functions. The cost for this workshop is $29.95.
Dr. Jeanne Symanoskie, NRCC corporate trainer, will instruct each workshop.
