NRCC fall class registration begins April 22

Fall 2014 class registration at New River Community College begins Tuesday, April 22.

More than 600 courses will be offered, including new courses in film and literature, industrial robotics, probation and parole, and makers technology. An acting course also returns to the schedule this fall.

“Film and Literature” will acquaint students with basic concepts of literary and film analysis through the study of literature and film as related forms of art and cultural expression. Course topics will include elements of literary and film style, issues in adapting literary works for film, and cultural contexts for literature and film.

“Industrial Robotics Programming” introduces students to industrial robotics and programming for repetitive manufacturing systems. The design of software that ensures safe operation and programming of both on and offline robot operations will also be covered.

“Probation, Parole and Treatment” surveys the philosophy, history, organization, personnel and functioning of traditional and innovative probation and parole programs. The course will also consider major treatment models for clients.
“Makers Technology” provides an overview of rapid technologies in Additive Manufacturing that are high productivity tools designed to cut lead time, reduce time to market, increase the quality of the product and improve collaboration within the organization.

“Acting I” will help students develop personal resources and explore performance skills through such activities as theater games, role playing, improvisation, work on basic script units and performance of scenes.
