NRCC to offer one-day computer workshops
|Several one-day computer workshops will be offered at New River Community College in February and March. The workshops will be held at NRCC in Dublin and each course meets from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
“Intro to PCs” will assist those who have little or no experience with computers. The workshop will focus on learning very basic concepts and essential skills and will be held on Friday, February 7.
The “Windows” workshop is designed for students with some knowledge of the personal computer and who are proficient in using the mouse. Topics include the functions Windows performs and how those functions effect other applications. This workshop will be held on Friday, February 14.
“Beginning Word” will be held on Friday, February 21, and will introduce students to general word processing concepts including editing, moving/copying text, formatting, tables, page layout, saving and printing.
“Intermediate Word” will be held on Friday, February 28, and will help participants learn to create professional quality documents by learning to use columns, headers, footers, Auto Text entries and graphics.
“Advanced Word” will be held on Friday, March 7. This workshop will instruct students in creating form letters and address envelopes, working with forms, managing large documents and making revisions.
“Beginning Excel” will introduce students to the essential concepts and skills for creating spreadsheets. Students will see examples of spreadsheets created in Excel, add text and numeric data, perform calculations, modify and format a worksheet, print and save. This workshop will be held on Friday, March 14.
“Intermediate Excel” will take place on Friday, March 21 and will help students learn to work with large worksheets and use Excel’s multiple sheet feature. Students will also create and modify charts, perform advanced formatting techniques and create and sort lists.
Tuition is $109 per course and a textbook is included. A certificate and .55 Continuing Education Unit will be awarded upon completion.
