NRCC to offer Veterinary Assistant training
|A new opportunity will be available through New River Community College’s Office of Workforce Development this fall – Veterinary Assistant training.
The college has partnered with healthcare training provider Boston Reed to offer the new program, which will prepare students to assist the veterinarian or veterinarian technician in daily tasks such as feeding, watering and examining pets for signs of illness, disease or injury. Students will also learn to clean and disinfect cages and work areas, as well as sterilize laboratory and surgical equipment in laboratories, animal hospitals and clinics.
The four-week program contains 35 hours of classroom instruction and tuition is $1,199.
Students are also required to obtain 24 hours of volunteer experience after the classroom portion of the program has concluded.
There will be an open house for interested individuals on Monday, October 28 from 5 to 6 p.m. in Edwards Hall, room 208 at NRCC in Dublin.
