More than 640 classes available for fall semester at NRCC
|More than 640 classes, including over 200 distance education offerings, will be available this fall semester at New River Community College. Fall registration is currently in progress and classes begin on Monday, August 26.
Among the fall 2013 course offerings will be a course in electronic health records management, which studies new trends in the management and processing of health information with an emphasis on the electronic health record (EHR). The course also explores the implementation of the EHR, including the infrastructure required, project management techniques, information technology systems, workflow processes and redesign in various health care settings.
Other available courses include modern drama, financial management, forensic science, drafting and more.
Additionally, several distance education language courses including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Russian will be available. These courses have an earlier start date than others, beginning on Wednesday, August 21.
An art course in printmaking will also make its debut at NRCC this fall. This studio course will provide a historical perspective on printmaking and will introduce students to the full range of printmaking techniques. Tammy Parks, assistant professor of art and instructor for the course, says that students will have the opportunity to make t-shirts and learn to print on paper and cloth. She says they will also work with linoleum and wood and learn eco-friendly printmaking techniques from a visiting artist.
