NRCC announces fall community interest classes

| New River Community College will offer several popular community interest classes beginning in September including Zumba fitness, cake decorating, concealed carry/handgun safety, and ballroom dance. ZUMBA FITNESS, RECR 1102-CA (CLASS # 66001) Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 6 - November 27 (no class 9/13, 9/20 or 9/22) 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Location: New River Valley Fairgrounds, Dublin Instructor: Charlene Kidder Tuition: $50 This beginner/intermediate class features rhythms set to high-energy and international beats. Combine this with Zumba Toning sticks and you’ve got a high cardio, body-sculpting workout. The class is designed for anyone at any fitness level. BEGINNING CAKE DECORATING, HOST 1100-C1 (CLASS # 64343) 2 Continuing Education Units Thursdays, September 13 - November 15 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Location: NRCC Dublin, Edwards Hall, Room 208 Instructor: Teresa Blankenbeckler Tuition: $98 Conquer the art of cake decorating through instruction and hands-on experience. Develop the skills you need to create cakes and learn to make a variety of borders and flowers. Learn to do special techniques such as basket-weaving, lattice work, drop strings and figure piping. Participants will also create a character cake, cut-up cake, transfer cake and tiered cake. Supplies will need to be purchased. CONCEALED CARRY, HANDGUN SAFETY LAWS 1100-C1 (Class # 64346) Tuesday and Thursday, September 18 and 20 LAWS 1100-C2 (Class # 64348) Tuesday and Thursday, November 13 and 15 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Location: NRCC Dublin, Edwards Hall, Room 208 Instructor: Joey Williams Tuition: $60 The six hour lecture is required with optional range time held on the Saturday following the classes. The class is intended for persons who are applying for a handgun permit through the courts. Students will learn the nomenclature of revolvers and/or semi automatic handguns. They will also learn how to care for, maintain and properly store their handguns. BALLROOM DANCE, LLRN 1101-C1 (Class 64435) September 14 - November 16 7:00 – 10:00 p.m. Location: NRCC Dublin, Student Lounge, Martin Hall Instructors: Naomi King and Hugh Webb Tuition: $44 per person (couples only) Bring your partner and enjoy learning a dance that is accepted both socially and competitively around the world. Beginner students will learn foxtrot, swing, and waltz. The intermediate students will learn cha cha, waltz and hustle. |
