Energy exam to be offered at NRCC
8/15/2011
| New River Community College is now an approved North American Board of Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) Photovoltaic (PV) Entry Level Exam provider. The NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam is a way for individuals to demonstrate that they have achieved a basic knowledge of the fundamental principles of the application, design, installation and operation of grid-tied and standalone PV systems. The exam will be an advantage for students participating in NRCC’s Alternative Energy career studies certificate. Within the certificate program, students study subjects such as electricity, industrial safety, wind turbine technology and photovoltaic energy systems. These subjects address many of the primary learning objectives for the PV Entry Level Exam. “We’re excited to be able to offer the NABCEP PV Entry Level Exam at NRCC,” says Dan Lookadoo, Dean of Business and Technologies. “It’s an important first step in preparing our students to become highly skilled, qualified and experienced tradespersons and professionals in the PV industry.” Those interested in the Alternative Energy career studies certificate may contact the Division of Business and Technologies at 540-674-3607. |
