DATABASESYou may access the following databases from any computer workstation on campus. For off-campus access, please follow the instructions found on the library’s homepage under “Off-Campus Access Instructions” or click here for an online tutorial. Health Source Nursing/Academic Edition provides more than 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. This database features abstracts and indexing for approximately 850 journals and is updated on a daily basis. Health Source Consumer Edition is one of the richest collections of consumer health information available to libraries providing information on many medical and health related topics. This database features searchable full text for nearly 300 journals and is updated on a daily basis. CINAHL is the premier index to journals in the nursing and allied health field. Full-text articles are available for many citations through VIVA. MEDLINE (PubMed) is a specialized medical database that indexes journals in the medical field. This is a citation only database with some full text articles available through VIVA’s Online Journal Locator service. OVID Nursing Journals allows one to search articles from scholarly nursing and medical journals. Full-text access to approximately 250 nursing journals is included. PsychInfo indexes books, journals, reports, dissertations on psychology and related fields such as nursing and pharmacology. Includes links to some full-text articles. Consumer Health Complete is the single most comprehensive resource for consumer-oriented health content. AltHealth Watch offers full-text articles on complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness.
WEBSITESAllnurses.com is a commercial site that includes nursing care plans, material tailored to students, nursing magazines and online journals, career opportunities, and links to nursing schools, hospitals, state boards, nursing organizations, and shopping. Centers for Disease Control MayoClinic is sponsored by the Mayo Clinic and dedicated to patient education. This site includes disease information and prevention, drug information, nutrition, health topics and current issues and web resources. MedlinePlus brings you reliable, up-to-date information about diseases, conditions, and wellness issues in language you can understand from the National Institutes of Health. Merck Manual of Diagnosis & Therapy National Center for Health Statistics compiles statistical information on America ’s health. PDR Health (Physician’s Desk Reference) PubMed for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Citations may include links to full-text content from PubMed Central and publisher web sites> Science.gov (Health & Medicine) provides authoritative health and medical information from U.S. Government agencies, including research and development results. WebMD provides consumer-focused healthcare information through WebMD Health as well as clinical information from medical journals, medical conferences, and other integrated medical resources within their Medscape link.
