Smoking SheltersBy Kristi Crawford • Feb 25th, 2009 • Category: Uncategorized
Changes are coming to New River for smokers. Due to a state law that was presented to Community Colleges this year it is against the law to smoke within twenty five feet of any door.
According to Tony Nicolo, the Facilities Services Manager, there will be signs placed at all of the doors before summer and, depending upon budget issues, there may be gazebos for smokers away from entrances. Ben Kramer said there will be one shelter per building and the designated location has not yet been decided. Once the shelters are in place it will be the smokers’ responsibility to keep the area clean.
