New River Community College plays an important role in helping dislocated workers train for new jobs. Currently over 120 students are enrolled with support from the Trade Re-adjustment Act (TRA), 30 students are being served by the Dislocated Workers program, and others are taking advantage of a variety of programs and services.

In addition, the college's new externally funded Job Readiness program works with dislocated workers and hard-to-serve populations within the New River Valley to provide training for better employability and career development.
