Aeronautic Concept designs

The Advanced Aeronautics and UCAV Modeling Teams of New River Community College are proud to present:

  • FSX-1 Poseidon, Flying Submersible - Air & Sea Special Forces Deliviery & Recovery Vehicle
  • VX-1 Stinger, Vertical Takeoff UCAV
  • HTX-1 Venom, Hypersonic UCAV

As a follow-up to Spring 2009's very successful designs (Phoenix and Reaper UCAV projects), New River's Advanced Modeling & Aeronautics teams have followed up with 2 thought and one preliminary design project. Though the CAD degree program is only two years in length, the students are put through a rigorous 70 credit Hour degree program packed with 15 core CAD, 3D modeling & design classes. Students are involved with no less than three design projects their final semester one of which is their advanced 3D Modeling Design Project.

These final design projects have gained wide spread attention over the past four years as the student have worked in mentorship based collaborations with representatives from D.O.D. contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Phoenix Integration, former DARPA project managers, USAF project staff from Langley Air Force Base, UAV and Aeronautical Program Heads from Virginia Tech's School of Engineering along with world renowned authors such as AIAA author Daniel Raymer, President of Conceptual Research Corporation in California. This year we welcome aboard project reviewers from General Atomics, SEI - Space Works Engineering, SAIC, ATK - Alliant Techsystems & DRS-TSI.
