NRCC students support Salvation Army stocking project for area children

CUTLINE INFORMATION: New River Community College (NRCC) students delivered 130 filled stockings to the Salvation Army last week to be delivered to area children for Christmas. Members of Phi Beta Lambda (PBL), the college’s business organization, and a group of students in a Principles of Management class teamed together to promote the stocking project on the NRCC campus. Faculty, staff and students volunteered to fill the stockings. Students in the Principles of Management class secured a donation from Tammy Owens, manager of the Fort Chiswell Outlet Mall. Owens was a former president of PBL and in charge of the stocking project at NRCC two years ago. NRCC students have supported the Salvation Army stocking project for over 10 years. Pictured from left are the students who led the project: Sheena Pickett of Hillsville, Chris Blankenship of Radford, Andrew Smith of Pembroke, Nathan Batman of Radford and Katie Cole of Radford.
