Workforce Readiness

The Workforce Readiness Program is designed to help unemployed or under-employed people gain the knowledge and skills they need to obtain or retain employment or advance in their present job.

Two special classes, designed to be taken either together or separately, help WIA clients and Dislocated Workers gain the knowledge and skills needed to obtain employment. Basic computer skills, word processing, and keyboarding applications are taught to assist students in upgrading or gaining workforce skills while becoming computer literate. Program participants earn a Virginia's Workforce Readiness Certificate issued by the Virginia Community College System. This portable credential facilitates job placement in our mobile society.
