How old do I have to be?
You must be 18 years of age or older. In special circumstances, a person can be 16 or 17. Please contact our office for details if you are under the age of 18.
How long do the tests take?
The entire tests can take up to 7-1/2 hours. The tests are given on two consecutive days (9 a.m.) or evenings (4 p.m.). Examinees must show up on both dates to take the entire tests.
When can I take the GED tests?
We provide a varied test schedule to try accommodate everyone. We offer GED testing during the morning, evening and weekend hours. Refer to the GED Testing Schedule for test dates and times.
Is there a registration deadline?
Yes, you must register for the tests in person at least three days prior to your GED test date. To inquire about testing, call 674-3652 or come by the NRCC Adult Education office located in Edwards Hall, Room 229.
What do I need to have with me when I register to take the GED tests?
A state or government issued identification card is required. It may consists of a driver's license, learner's permit, military ID, immigration card, passport, etc. Credit cards and school ID cards cannot be used for identification purposes.
How long does registration take?
It takes approximately 25 minutes to complete your paperwork in preparation for the GED tests.
What do I have to make on the tests to pass?
In order to pass the GED, your total standard score must be 2250 or higher. Each of the five sub-tests can be no lower than 410 (minimum score) and the average score must be 450 or better.
How often can I take the GED tests?
You may test up to three times each year. There is no waiting requirement before retesting on a sub-test.
What are some items not allowed in the testing room?
Cell phones, writing tablets, rulers, personal calculators, music head-sets, tape recorders, books, magazines, etc. are not allowed.
